Familiar Spaces

I’ve been here before,
I’ve walked through that door,
Found a corner to hide,
I’ve sat there and cried.

I’ve looked in those eyes,
Tried to cut all the ties,
But, bound by your might,
It was useless to fight.

I’ve lost and I’ve lost,
My heart’s paid the cost,
Broken and bound,
My soul weighed to the ground.

With a word, you caught me,
With silence, you shot me,
And in between – life was a haze
Every time that I met your gaze.
